What We Stand For
The Preamble to the Constitution of the Liberal Democrats reads:
“The Liberal Democrats exist to build a safe, free and open society, in which we seek to balance the fundamental values of liberty, equality and community, and in which no one shall be enslaved by poverty, ignorance or conformity. These are the conditions of liberty and social justice which it is the responsibility of each citizen and the duty of the state to protect and enlarge. The Liberal Democrats consist of women and men working together for the achievement of these aims."
Angus and Mearns Liberal Democrats
Angus and Mearns Liberal Democrats is what the Liberal Democrats call a local party. We cover an area comprising the Scottish Parliament constituences of (1) Angus South and (2) Angus North and Mearns. The area includes the towns of Stonehaven, Laurencekirk, Bervie, Montrose, Carnoustie, Arbroath, Monifieth, Brechin, Forfar and Kirriemuir. We work to support our communities and the residents of these communities. We campaign on local issues that affect our lives. We seek to have Liberal Democrat MPs, MSPs and councillors elected to serve our area.
Part of our area is in Angus Westminster constituency and part is in the constituency of West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine. For local government part of our area is in Aberdeenshire and part in Angus.

Scottish Liberal Democrats
Liberal Democrats is a federation of Scottish Liberal Democrats, English Liberal Democrats, and Welsh Liberal Democrats. Much of what we do in Scotland is decided in Scotland. We have our own conference, where we make decisions about policies that affect Scotland. We have an office in Edinburgh.
